plastic caps collector

never imagine I'll know someone else collect plastic caps and other plastics as i do till i found karen barbe via decor8. she's an amazing textile designer with great works, and what makes me more excited about her is knowing that she did crafty things from bottle caps she has been collecting.
I'm sooo surprised this morning find out that karen had visited back my blog, and left a comment there:) she shared how she has been inspired by the people in africa, they're making pins and other things from recycled plastic.
I know... now you agree with me that she's amazing^_^ I'm so inspired after seeing those pins, have to explore more to make better my recycle lids necklace, I hope I have enough supplies for trial...

bobbibow: fabric hairclips

making hair accessories is about fun. i imagine a lot while making. questioning like who will wear my hairclips? a baby girl? a teenager? a young woman? or... what is their personality... a sporty girl? girly gurl? glamour? shy? energetic? auuu... lot of questions right??? hihihii...

Bobbibow's latest collection are simple fabric hairclips, whatever personality you have or what ages you are, i believe there must be ones suit you!:)
mostly is one of a kind depends on the rug i have, i did the hand stitch myself, humnnn... feel like more patient lately.. wakakakaka:p

weekend project: pincushion

my very first and new pincushion:) this dedicated to all of my needle, and to myself! i promise to always put the needle back to the pad after using:p i used aqua gallon's cap for the bottom, rugs and a purple thread for making it nice:)

pyramid shape gift tutorial

while preparing some hampers order for this christmas, i think about my own "hampers" for families and friends. my own christmas greeting:) This is what i'll make, a "bacang" (i thought it looks like bacang better than a pyramid) filled with ferero rocher, yummmm! last time i promise to share the pyramid shape tutorial, so here it is.

you only need paper (wrapping paper or fancy paper), thread or ribbon, and tape. cut your paper in size 25x12 cm, and then do the steps as in the picture. i'm not good in words, so i hope the picture is clear enough:p write to me if you want to ask;)
psst... the point is, glued bottoms in the opposite side to get the shape, one horizontal and one vertical, and yes! you got it!

ryu's day

soooo, here's the story about ryu's day. I and husband came home early that day, picked ryu up, and went to summarecon mall serpong (sms), it's about 5 minutes only from home, but by car, not walking:p sms is a small family mall.when we arrived, first thing to do was buying a cake, ryu chose a mini strawberry cheese cake at miki ojisan no mise. it's cute^_^ then we went to sagoo, after pick our favorite menus, i prepared the cake and the candles for ryu to blow, he even started to blow when i light up the first candle, hihihiii:D from sagoo we went to petra, a toys store, ryu was so in rush to go home after we bought thomas the tank engine. yes, that's the gift he wished for:)

it was a very simple and standard celebration, but three of us were very happy at the day.
note: but never standard and simple feeling for you son! you are our everything, so so soooo special!!! we love you:)

about birthday

ughhh... u know what... today is my son's BIRTHDAY!!! and this mamma hasn't prepared anything for her beloved ryu... huhuwwww... at least I know what to present to ryu, I'll buy it on the way home. yes, I have to office today after my off monday, really thank God yesterday was holiday. so.. I'll post about ryu's birthday later... tomorow maybe...

birthday is so related to gifts, and last saturday ryu was invited to a friend's daughter 1st birthday celebration. ryu went to the party with his daddy, because they didn't come hometown with me, the ticket was sold out. in a rush of going, the gift need to be wrapped! it's a very cute purple dress inside:)
I used this baby pink fancy paper, lace tape, ribbon, teddy bear in stripey purple, and look! next time I'll give the step by step how to make a pyramid shape present:)

1922-2010

talk about going hometown... I did it last friday... my grandfather passed away in the morning before sunrise. He... who used to play "catch the ball" with me and my brother, who loved to tell the story how he sailed miles to reach land of Indonesia... he who couldn't step out of home without a hat...
in the age of 88, he was rich of descent, 5 sons, 5 daughters in law (2 of them r.i.p first), 11 grandsons, 7 granddaughters, 3 granddaughters in law, 4 grandsons in law, 7 great grandsons.
may you rest in peace grandpa, we'll keep well the memories, and I'll tell Ryu your stories, I promise...

luscious china pattern

found this wrapping paper at gramedia bookstore. cost only idr 2.500, and available in two color, soft peach and black, I bought both.
at the time I saw those papers, memory of my late grandma blasted to mind, an old lady who did great embroideries, want you to remind me to take pictures of her works when I'm back to my hometown, my mom keeps them neatly in a box, and some has applied to mom's beddings:)

finally it's a BOY thing!

ryu: "mom, what re u gonna make today?"
mom: "a necklace ryu, it's for auntie devi"
ryu: "owww... a necklace yah?" *continue playing

each time creating and making things, I thought why they can not be used by ryu, they're all mostly girl's things. flower, bow, necklace, oww... :( so sorry to ryu because of my less interest in boy's accessories.
after making devi's sustagen necklace yesterday, I browsed for something to make for my boy. and I found this watches via made, they're really adorable, looks so sporty and kewl!

                                                                                      dana-made-it.com
those watches are from felt, and I don't have much choice with my felt collection, and again... they're mostly in pink and soft colour:p reason why I finally used jeans fabric for ryu's watch.

ryu is soo hepiiiyyyy with his new watch! last nite he brought it to bed, owww mom's so happy tooooo ryu:D

what you need for this project:
• 3 caps (I use AQUA's, you can use another)
• chain, the lenght is up to you
• fabric... or rug is better, coz we're in recycle project:D
• beads or button

how to:
1. wrap the bottle cap with your rug, cover the whole part of the cap, do the same to the rest. (picture 2)
2. put some beads inside the wrapped bottle caps with glue. (picture 3)
3. sew the caps in the position you like, and give it a chain, and...? done!:)

trashion#2

the old saying, "one person's trash is another person's treasure", but I'll begin with my own trash. My son's milk is sustagen junior from mead johnsons. the lid is plastic in white color, it's quite easy to cut into shape. and hopplaaaa.. trallaaaaa! a necklace!! I wear it to office today:) hopefully someday I can use the whole part of the milk can, need more material knowledge:D

for now, let me explore unused lids, would you send me yours? whatever plastic lids you have, better come in colors, such yellow from chil kid, purple from pediasure, orange from bebelac:D

trashion#1

What is trashion? Trashion is a philosophy and an ethic encompassing environmentalism and innovation. Making traditional objects out of recycled materials can be trashion, as can making avant-garde fashion from cast-offs or junk. It springs from a desire to make the best use of limited resources. Trashion is similar to upcycling and refashion, although it began with specific fashion aspirations. Like upcycling, trashion generates items that are valued again, but these may be low-cost or high-cost, perhaps depending on the skill of the artist. -wikipedia-

 (picture from google image)
Found myself being in such interest for trashion since I went to pasar seni ITB last month. I saw the final of trashion design contest held by Unilever there. It gave a big effect for me, came home with big thought, something to do to with the trash and my accessories. trashion brings a lot of good things for future, poverty reduction, a better living, and of course a greener earth less of waste!

plastic pleasure

it was holiday yesterday. being at home is always a pleasure, longer sleeping time, play hour with my son, cooking, and me time^_^ me time is important, tough only sit and do nothing... but yesterday the idea came in a sudden...
I went to the kitchen, searched for colorful plastic bag... what for? for flowers. Again? yes!:p here they are...

at the fasade

What is your house number made from? mine was used to be made from wood... till one day i found a very big family of ants lived happily inside. Since then I decided to make a new house number myself. Here it is, from clay, it's not as good as I want it to be, but still like it^_^:p

I have another story about insects:p The bamboo windchime is from a friend, I'll show you what it's like before...

mosquito is a friend of ant, right? me not likey both. with the help of acrylic, I covered all the mosquito parts, draw the leaves and flowers on. I think it looks better now:D

bobbibow #1

Hello! let me introduce BOBBIBOW!^_^ My friend said my face always turned very weird everytime I entered a ribbon store, kind of blinkin' or somewhat she just couldn't explain, and of course I never left the store without buying. This Bobbibow project is dedicated to girls out there. You can clip it on your hair or your daughter's, pin it to your t-shirt, or make it a necklace. It's all up to you. Write to me if you interested, give me more reason for buying ribbons without feeling guilty:p

rug cuties

Weeks ago my workmate asked my lil' help for her greenfest project. The project was about recycling and what she brought me was some old unwearable clothes and rugs, they were smelly! really!:p and then... with the help of colourful buttons, pins, chains, and BIG inspiration from decor8, i made them^_^

They're not anymore ugly and smelly, they're cute! do you think so?:D
